Co-ed Softball 2008
The 2008 Co-ed softball season was special in many ways. As we’ve seen the softball teams’ participation and competitiveness increase in recent years, this season eclipsed even the higher standard set the year before. We had 10 new members on the softball team this year. The challenge continues to be, playing each and every person and ministering to them along the way. We were able to make a smooth transition due to our great leaders on the team that were willing to sacrifice playing time and be models to the newcomers. Our group of veteran team members understand our main focus to have fun, be good representatives of Harmony Baptist Church and the importance of ministering as individuals and as a team.
Many times throughout the season, team members noticed our effect on the younger players, players from other teams and our own church members. We realize how blessed we are to be doing God’s work, on His plan and having a lot of fun doing it.
We are also very proud to have experienced 4 members of the team being baptized over the course of the season, and several others that have expressed an interest in pursuing Baptism in the future.
As a team, we feel very, very blessed to have such incredible support from the church, the church members and the Trustee board. We estimated that 20 – 30 people from the church attended our final game this year. We would like to express the importance of that support in fostering confidence and encouragement to our team.
The 2008 Co-ed Softball team of Harmony Baptist Church finished the season by winning the league championship in a three game series with Shenango Presbyterian Church. It was the icing on the cake. A cake that was built with love, friendship, stewardship, faith and fun! This is the first softball championship won in the history of Harmony Baptist Church. While we rejoice in our victory on the field, we are blessed by the victories that were won along the way.
We ask our church family to continue their prayers for our softball ministry. We embrace our calling and pray for more opportunities to touch lives in the name of Jesus. We will proudly display the 1st place trophy in the church showcase for all to enjoy. We will proudly remember the experience of the grace of God to do His work, on His plan, for His glory.
